Hiss Golden Messenger has made stripped down albums, and lush full-band albums, and does both exceedingly well.
After exploring the latter sound on 2016’s terrific Heart Like A Levee, MC Taylor decided to roughen up the edges for his next project, loading his tour-sharpened band into a studio and recording quickly to tape.
The result is not unlike Ben Harper’s Lifeline: immediate, enjoyable, casual, a little political, and above all, hopeful.
